Dive Leader Course

The club is currently running a Dive leader Course which will allow Sports Divers to progress and qualify to the next level. When qualified this will allow the Dive Leader to dive to greater depths, organise dives to known dive sites, have better rescue management skills and can conduct dives with divers of any grade.

Ebbw Vale Leisure Centre Closes

It is with sadness that I have to report that the long standing Ebbw Vale Leisure Centre has closed its doors and has now been demolished.

Heads of the Valley's Sub Aqua Club has used the 3.8 metre swimming pool at the leisure centre for over 40 years and has put many trainee scuba divers through thier training sylabus in the pool and have seen hundreds of members pass through over the years.

The new Leisure Centre, which has been built on the old Ebbw Vale Steel works site is now open and fully fuctional. HVSAC has been allocated a spot there on a Thursday night 19:30 untill 20:30 where SCUBA training is now taking place. The new centre has been open now since September 2nd 2013 and HVSAC meets there every week on Thursday so if you fancy coming along for a try dive please get in touch, we look forward to meeting you.

Trainee Ocean Divers in the midst of thier Pool Training

We are always recruiting, training and encouraging new up and coming divers to join our Sub Aqua Club. The BSAC Ocean Diver Course is the entry level course for new starters aged 14yrs and above. This course prepares the diver for open water diving giving them the knowledge and skills needed to become competent and confident to enjoy the wonders of the underwater world. All training is completed comfortably and safely in the safety of a swimming pool and you will be introduced to the open water in a controlled manner being looked after by one of our nationally qualified Instructors where you will gradually gain confidence and the skills to go on and become a competent diver.

Please contact us if you would be interested in learning how to SCUBA dive or if you need any further information about diving or snorkeling.

Try Dives

The club welcomes anyone to attend a try dive night to experience the wonders of breathing underwater. The try dive is for anyone (14yrs and over) to come along to our club and for a small fee (£10) you can experience what it is like to be weightless and the wonderful feeling of breathing underwater. Please contact us or come along to the pool for further details.

Honorary Life Member

Mr Alan Oakley Honorary Life Member

The Heads of the Valley's Sub Aqua Club has awarded honorary life membership to one of its long standing members. The award went to Mr. Alan Oakley who has been with the club now for nearly 40 years. Mr. Oakley was given the award at the recent AGM in recognition of his dedication and commitment towards The Heads of the Valley's Sub Aqua Club and the sport of SCUBA diving. Alan has taken on many roles within the club which includes Diving Officer, a long standing committee member, chairman and also took a very active role as one of the club's instructors responsible for the training of many of the clubs now experienced divers and instructors. Alan, who is now past the age of 60, still is a very active diver and a tower of knowledge and experience, he now prefers to take a little lighter role and concentrate on enjoying the rest of his diving years. Congratulation's Mr. O you deserve it and all the best from all the member's of HVSAC.
